Candidate Statement
As San Clemente's former two-term councilwoman and two-time mayor, my overarching goal has been to improve our town and protect our quality of life while keeping our unique village character.
The vision document for San Clemente formed our General Plan for future growth. The dominant theme is that residents are focused on maintaining, rather than changing, the character of San Clemente.
Currently the General Plan is not being followed. City ordinances are admittedly not being enforced, the planning commission is purposely being bypassed, and the concerns of residents and business owners are being ignored.
I will support proper procedures within our city, so that decisions on the council are in full public view, providing complete public transparency and participation.
As your councilwoman, I led the charge to keep the toll road from ever threatening San Clemente again. We revitalized North Beach, making it a historic district; zoned vacation rentals and sober living facilities out of single-family neighborhoods, added SC Trolley, made San Clemente a non-toxic city using no harmful chemicals, and increased traffic circulation by adding arterial access points.
My leadership will be guided by the residents' vision for San Clemente. One town. One team.
